Learning to crochet jewelry components opened a whole new world of design possibilities back when I started making jewelry. As I've shared in this previous blog post, years of creative exploration and experimentation taught me that while an abundance of ideas and resources can fuel creativity, it's having limits and containers that makes refinement and real growth possible. This is why I created distinct collections to serve as creative containers for my past, present and future designs. The Signature Staples collection is home to Nyuki's foundational crochet pieces that define the heart of the brand. The Beaded & Betasseled collection, on the other hand, is where I let my curiosity lead. Here, crochet meets beads, tassels, metal, chains and whatever interesting materials happen to spark an idea. It's the collection where I get to play with colors, textures, materials and design. It is where I follow my curiosity and see where it takes me, and where I discover what else crochet can become.

When people think of crochet, they often picture granny squares, cozy blankets or vintage-inspired pieces. While I love the beauty and nostalgia of the craft, I often wonder what happens when crochet is paired with unexpected materials, vibrant color and modern silhouettes. Can it feel fresh? Contemporary? Even timeless? When we think of modern jewelry and fashion accessories, our minds often go to metals, beads, gemstones or even leather. Crochet jewelry doesn't usually make that list, and that's what makes this collection exciting for me! I like the challenge of making crochet jewelry feel not only current, but also confidently at home alongside your favorite go-to pieces. I want to see what would make crochet jewelry something you reach for not because of its novelty, but because it feels beautifully like You.

This upcoming collection is where I explore and play with different ways to design jewelry.
